DAY 1 : Arrival at Chennai International Airport

Assist your arrival at Chennai International Airport, check in to your South India tour package and transfer to your hotel. Rest at your hotel. Overnight in Chennai.

Day 2: Chennai

After breakfast, start your Chennai city tour and visit some of the popular attractions in Chennai like Fort St. George, St. Mary’s Church, St. Thomas Church, Marina Beach and Kapaleeswara Temple. Overnight again in Chennai.

Day 3: Chennai – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram

Start your journey in the morning by visiting the temples of Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram, the capital of the Pallava dynasty. Visit important temples like the Ekambareswarar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the three great gods of Hinduism. Then take a short drive to Kailasanatha Temple, one of the ancient temples with beautiful sculptures and stone carvings. Have lunch in the city. Day 4 : Mahabalipuram

After breakfast, enjoy a short drive to the UNESCO World Heritage monuments. First the seaside temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, then the five-wheeled “Phalava”, a monolithic building built by the Pallava people representing a unique style, and finally the penance of Arjuna. Day 5 : Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry

In the late afternoon, you will start your Puducherry city tour to visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, an ashram dedicated to Sri Aurobindo and “The Mother”. Visit the Sacred Heart Church and Notre-Dame des Angels, the French Colony and the market. Take a rickshaw ride through the shopping streets. Rest at your hotel. Overnight in Puducherry.

Day 6 : Pondicherry - Gangaikondacholapuram - Darasuram Temple - Tanjore

After breakfast, depart for Tanjore for a heritage tour. En route, visit the famous Shiva temple at Gangaikondacholapuram, built by the Chola dynasty in the 11th century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the late afternoon, visit the 12th century Chola temple Airavatesvara located in the small village of Darasuram before departing for Tanjore. Rest at the hotel. Overnight in Thanjavur.

Day 7: Thanjavur

Start your sculpture tour in the morning from Tanjore. Visit the famous Thanjavur Art Gallery, which houses a collection of sculptures and statues, the Saraswati Mahal Library Museum and the Brihadeswara Temple (also known as the Great Temple), one of the World Heritage monuments built by the Chola dynasty in the 10th century. In the morning we drive to Trichy. We will make a cultural stop at the holy bank of river Cauvery, “Amma Mandapam”, where you can see the post-cremation rituals of Hindus. It is very interesting to see the rituals performed by Hindus with the help of priests. Then proceed to Srirangam spiritual journey to the famous Vishnu temple in Srirangam, the most important pilgrimage center of Hinduism, Sriranganathaswamy Temple. In the evening we climb to Rockfort Uchchipillayar Temple, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Trichy.

Day 9: Trichy – Chettinadu

After breakfast we head to Chettinadu for a traditional trek. Chettinadu is also known as Kanadukathan. Take a walk along the village and visit the traditional houses of Chettiar people. Back to hotel for rest. Overnight in Chettinadu.
